International A&R: The ‘Gut’ Meets Data
A&R has survived tumultuous times, with an estimated one-third of global label revenues still devoted to finding talent. But with streaming platforms like Spotify uploading tens of thousands of “unknown” artists daily, and the hum of TikTok followers replacing word-on-the-street, it’s become incredibly more complicated than checking out a “buzz” band at a club. This panel will take a global view of the job of developing and refining early talent – and the digital tools that have evolved to find it. And it will look at the evolving relationships between managers, publishers, agents, writers, producers and the labels.
