Optimism is in the air. Rapid testing advances and mass COVID vaccinations have strategists pondering a safe face-to-face reunion between artists and fans. Beta testing has begun in Barcelona, Spain, starting in December when 1,000 people attended a Primavera Sound Festival concert with no reports of exposure, and in April, when 5,000 attended a show by the Spanish rock band Love of Lesbian, with three “positives” turned away at the gate. There’s bullish talk by some promoters about being back in the game by summer. David Hazan moderates a panel of luminaries who’ll consider what the “new normal” in concert attendance will be and the part sponsors can play in providing experiential support for the great return.
