An Oakland native, Marcus “Don Dada” Johnson has operated for nearly two decades as an independent promoter and marketer for Southern California events, including collaborating with Goldenvoice to ticket many of the company’s shows and festivals since 2009. Artists Johnson has worked with include Post Malone, YG, Saweetie, Ari Lennox, Bryson Tiller and the late Nipsey Hussle.
He joined Los Angeles-based promoter Goldenvoice as talent buyer in 2021, handling talent buying for Goldenvoice festivals and clubs, including Los Angeles’ The Novo.
Marcus level of musical taste and knowledge fits perfectly with what Goldenvoice does. His joining Goldenvoice makes official his position as part of the family. Johnson’s skillset and expertise is a valuable contribution to such a forward-thinking company. Hip-hop and R&B play such an important part in moving the needle on popular culture, and the same can be said for Goldenvoice… the team always has a finger on the pulse.
And after spending the last twelve years working closely with the Goldenvoice team, the move was a natural progression.
