Jonathan McHugh is an independent film producer & music supervisor for J2 Media who has run film, music and marketing divisions at top entertainment companies like New Line Cinema/Warner Brothers (VP Soundtracks,) Sony Records (Sr. VP Film & TV), Universal Records (Sr. VP Visual Media) over the past few decades. McHugh’s career is the true intersection of where music and film meet.

He has produced over twenty films & TV shows including most recently the upcoming Janis Joplin documentary film; “Janis: Little Girl Blue” along with Academy award winning producer Alex Gibney and Academy Award nominated director Amy Berg.
For his newest production he partnered with two-time Academy award winning producer John Battsek (“Searching For Sugarman.”) The film “We Are X” just won the best editing award at the Sundance 2016 Film Festival and is the only documentary to be chosen to also play at the 2016 SXSW Film Festival.

McHugh has produced films for the some of music’s biggest stars including “Justin Bieber’s Never Say Never”” Morgan Spurlock’s Sony Classics documentary “The Greatest Movie Ever Sold,” Lionsgate’s “Repo The Generic Opera,” (Sarah Brightman & Paul Sorvino,) Lifetime’s “Flying By” (Billy Ray Cyrus,) The ramount film “Crossroads (Britney Spears & Dan Ackroyd) and the Discovery’ TV’s “Battle Ground Earth” (Ludacris & Motley Crue’s Tommy Lee.)
He also co-wrote and produced the Lions Gate feature film “Snoop Dogg’s Hood of Horror” staring Snoop, Jason Alexander, Danny Trejo and Anson Mount.

McHugh has music supervised the music for over fifty feature films and TV including the Saw Film series, the Lionsgate film "Spare Parts" (George Lopez & Academy award winner Marisa Tomei,) “Ping Pong Summer (Susan Sarandon), the Peter Jackson produced documentary “West of Memphis,” The Polish Brothers comedy “Hot Bot,” and the upcoming Televisa Films comedy “Sundown.”
His newest music supervision project is the CMT TV series “Million Dollar Quartet, based on the popular play of the history of Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis & Carl Perkins all coming together at Sun Studios in Memphis.

As Vice President of Soundtracks at New Line Cinema McHugh co-produced many platinum & gold soundtracks including “Austin Powers”, “The Wedding Singer”, “Boogie Nights,” “Rush Hour,” “Blade” “Mortal Combat 2”, “Love Jones,” and “Money Talks. ”

McHugh is Documentary committee member of the Producers Guild and the secretary and founding member of the Guild of Music Supervisors.
