Dick Huey launched and led the New Media department at the Beggars Group (XL Recordings, 4AD, Matador Records, Rough Trade) from 1997 to 2001, licensed the Group’s groundbreaking digital catalog, and set the Group’s strategic direction.
His current business venture is Toolshed, launched in 2001. Toolshed offers brand sponsorship and social media development and alignment services, tour marketing and digital PR, and digital licensing consulting services to independent label, artist, and blue chip clients.
He is a founding/current new media committee member for the American Association of Independent Music (A2IM), a past independent label Board Member representing Matador Records at, and a board member at CASH Music, which builds open source music technology for artists. He has also managed the careers of several music artists signed to Kill Rock Stars, Simple Machines, Beggars Banquet, and Glitterhouse Records.
