Caroline Rioux

Caroline Rioux is President of the Canadian Musical Reproduction Rights Agency Ltd. (CMRRA). She also serves on the Boards of CMRRA/SODRAC Inc. (CSI), the Canadian Private Copying Collective (CPCC) and ALAI Canada. Caroline joined CMRRA in 1991. She earned an M.B.A. from the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management and is a graduate of the Trebas Institue of Recording Arts. Prior to joining CMRRA, Caroline worked for independent record label Les Disques Gamma Ltd. as artist marketing representative.

In her various roles at CMRRA, Caroline has participated in the establishment of a number licensing agreements and tariffs certified by the Copyright Board of Canada, notably, CSI's Online Music Services tariff, which sets out the royalty rates and terms for the use of the reproduction right in downloads and streams in Canada. She is a strong advocate for fair royalty rates, robust administrative provisions, responsive client service and transparency in collective management to ensure a high degree of satisfaction from the rightsholders she represents.

CMRRA is a not-for-profit music licensing collective, which represents the interest of the vast majority of music publishers doing business in Canada. On their behalf, CMRRA issues licenses to users of the reproduction right in copyrighted music, such as record companies, online music services and broadcasters.
