Jay Harren

Head of Music BD,
StubHub
San Francisco, CA, USA
Jay Harren is StubHub’s head of music business development, and in his role leads a team focused on its partners in the music in North America.

With deep experience in A&R, operations management, label relations and music programming, Jay joined StubHub in October 2018 from Sony Music’s boutique label Descendant Records, where he was the vice president of A&R and artist development. Jay launched and ran the label that was home to The Lone Bellow, Colony House and The Wild Wild, among others. Jay’s forward-thinking approach at the label integrated Sony’s independent distribution and label-services arm Red Music for its artists, allowing for a tailor-made approach to marketing and promotion for each project.

Jay started at Columbia Records/Sony Music Entertainment in 2006 as A&R Manager, and signed the critically acclaimed and commercially successful band Manchester Orchestra, as well as country star Cassadee Pope, who perfomed under the ‘Hey Monday’ moniker at the time.

Jay’s career began in radio, at Atlanta’s influential alternative radio station 99X/WNNX, serving as music directior and on-air talent, as well as founder and host of the station’s new-music discovery program ‘Sunday School.’

In addition to his professional role, Jay is an adjunct professor at Belmont University’s Mike Curb College of Music Business, teaching ‘Entertainment in New York,’ and is the co-host of the musicy discovery podcast Lean Forward.

Jay is based in StubHub’s New York office.
