ANDREW LINDSAY

Andrew began his career as a recording engineer, songwriter and musician. He has recorded and performed across Canada, US, UK and The Netherlands with The Saddletramps, Loomer, Cap Gun, Adam Franklin and a host of other artists.
 
Developing a deeper interest in the business, he began working at various major labels in Toronto including PolyGram and Rounder Records.  A short stop to develop the music division for Chapters Online in the original dot com explosion revealed the new possibilities in digital music, and eventually landed him at Sony Music leading their digital business development for 7 years.
 
In April 2015, Andrew moved to Google to manage strategic partnerships for Google Play Music, a role that quickly expanded to include YouTube. He works directly with artists, managers and labels to help break artists across Google’s music platforms.

DENISE ROSS

Denise Ross is a Canadian music industry veteran with over 20 years experience in live entertainment. Starting out at MCA Concerts in the mid 90’s, thanks to her aggressive attention to detail and valuable personal relationships Ross moved up the ranks into a senior level promoter role at Live Nation Concerts. Currently Ross promotes talent and events across Canada at all levels including clubs, arenas, amphitheaters and stadiums and has produced such high-profile events as Bug Light Sensation and Global Citizen Canada series. Denise is an avid supporter of both Canadian and International acts and has helped artists such Dixie Chicks, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Beck, Foo Fighters, Amy Schumer, Queens of the Stone Age, Lights, Sarah Harmer,Dallas Smith and City and Colour, tour across the country. Denise is currently a Senior Director at Live Nation and can be found furthering the live music careers of many popular and soon-to-be popular acts from around the world.
MICHAEL MCCARTY

Michael McCarty is responsible for leading innovation in the Membership department while creating and delivering cutting-edge, 21st Century services to current and future SOCAN members. His mandate is to ensure that SOCAN extends its place as a vital leader among global music rights organizations and the choice of Canada’s music creators. Prior to joining SOCAN, Michael served as President of EMI Music Publishing Canada and President of Canadian rights management company, ole, where he played a key role in the development and international success of many notable SOCAN members.
 
With more than 25 years’ experience in the music industry,  including his service on the Board of Directors of SOCAN, he was a member of the Canadian Music Publishers Association (CMPA), past director for the Canadian Musical Reproduction Rights Agency (CMRRA), and a founding director of the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame. Michael is a graduate of the Fanshawe College Music Industry Arts program.

 

NICK FARKAS

Nick Farkas has been booking shows in his hometown of Montreal for over 25 years. He started with punk and metal acts in the late 1980’s, eventually co-founding Greenland Productions in 1993. Four years later, he was recruited by legendary Montreal promoter Donald K. Donald. Nick worked for DKD from 1997 to 2002; over this 5 year period the company merged into DKD/Universal, then Universal Concerts Canada and finally House of Blues Concerts Canada. For the past fifteen years, Nick has headed the Talent Buying division of evenko (formerly Gillett Entertainment Group), which books over 1,200 shows a year in venues ranging from small clubs to arenas and large outdoor venues, in Montreal, Quebec, Atlantic Canada and Vermont. He is also oversees all of the evenko festivals, Osheaga, Heavy Montreal, IleSoniq, Yul Eat and ’77 which all take place in Montreal.

 

PAUL JESSOP

Beginning as a promotions and marketing representative in his hometown of Montreal, Paul Jessop relocated to Toronto to become head of Promotions for A&M/Island/Motown. He later expanded his role at Universal Music Canada with an A&R Directorship, reflecting his specialized knowledge of and deep roots in the Quebec music marketplace. Since 2010, Jessop has overseen the UMC’s national Promotions department.

Sarah Cummings is the Program Director for 104.5 CHUM FM and Bell Media Regional Program Director for Ontario & Atlantic Canada.
 

 

 

Sarah has been in radio programming and promotions for over 20 years.  She started in Chatham and has worked throughout Ontario with stops in St. Catharines, Toronto, Ottawa, Kitchener, London and most recently Hamilton & Niagara.  Sarah is a FACTOR board member and past recipient of the CMW Program Director of the Year & Promotion of the Year awards.

 

 
STEFANIE PURIFICATI

Stefanie Purificati is an agent and music industry veteran who got her star as the in-house talent buyer at the Drake Hotel. She began her career as an agent in 2010 and recently helped open the Toronto office for APA Canada. Her current roster includes Paul Brandt, Jess Moskaluke, Virginia to Vegas, Sarah Harmer, Alan Doyle, Bruce Cockburn and many more.
 
A highly active member of the community, Stefanie sits on the Board of Directors for the Country Music Association of Ontario, worked for the Polaris Music Prize for a decade, and is a frequent panelist at conferences like Halifax Pop Explosion, The East Coast Music Awards, Megaphono and many more.
VIVIAN BARCLAY
General Manager
Warner/Chappell Music Canada
 
Vivian is the General Manager of Warner/Chappell Music Canada. She is a classically-trained musician with a degree in Radio & Television from Ryerson University. Experienced in radio, artist management, publicity, and promotion, she has composed music for television commercials and won awards for her film sound production and digital audio editing talents.
 
At Warner/Chappell, she works with a diverse roster of songwriters, including Producer Lantz, Machel Montano, Classified, Jully Black, Barenaked ladies and Michael Bernard Fitzgerald, and is also responsible for the administration of the 200-year-old company’s global catalogue, which includes George and Ira Gershwin, Radiohead, Kendrick Lamar, Beyonce, Jay -Z, Michael BublĆ© and Producers T- Minus & Murda Beatz and Party Next Door.
 
Vivian currently sits on the Boards of the Canadian Music Publishers Association (CMPA), and SOCAN.
 
Vivian is also active in community development projects, working with Habitat for Humanity.
