TORONTO, ON – (August 9, 2013) – Canadian Music Week is pleased to announce the addition of John Kastner as Festival Programmer to its team. Kastner will spearhead the festival’s marquee shows, oversee talent acquisition and contribute to the expansion of Canadian Music Week’s live component.

“We are thrilled to have John Kastner join our team,” said Neill Dixon, President of Canadian Music Week. “His fresh outlook, enthusiasm, and energy is infectious and an opportune ignition to take our festival to the next level.”

“I’m excited to be joining the CMW team, and eager to make my contribution to the already internationally lauded music conference and festival,” enthused Kastner.

John Kastner is no stranger to the Canadian music industry. He has fronted such iconic bands as Asexuals, Doughboys and All Systems Go!, written and recorded at least ten records, managed and produced a number of acts, and has toured the world more than a dozen times. His 7-year stint as Programming Specialist for Toronto’s NXNE festival combined with his latest endeavors with C2SV in San Jose, have cemented Kastner as a leading booker on the festival circuit. At the same time, his L.A. residence has kept him connected to the live scene on both sides of the border.

Though Kastner continues to perform, score for film and television, and work with a variety of artists – Bran Van 3000, Evan Dando, Men Without Hats and The Jesus and Mary Chain, to name a few – his focus is fixed on scouting new acts.

John starts his position with Canadian Music Week immediately. He can be reached as follows:
