Joel Carriere

Owner & President,
Dine Alone Records
Toronto, ON, Canada
Joel Carriere has been working in the music industry in some form since his days as an alternative rock DJ and assistant manager at Sam The Record Man. Since then, Carriere has become a prominent figure in the Canadian independent music scene as owner of Bedlam Music Management, Dine Alone Records and DA Foods.

Growing up in St. Catharines, Ontario, Joel embraced the growing punk music scene and in 2001 harnessed his passion for music into his first successful industry endeavour, the cutting edge website Bedlam Society. The online music magazine and virtual community it created soon became a platform to release a series of compilation albums titled the Bedlam Society Mix Tapes, promoting hundreds of independent artists and concerts in St. Catharines, Hamilton, Toronto, Whistler, Vancouver and more. Carriere also started managing Canadian band ALEXISONFIRE in 2001, a groundswell success story who have since earned several industry accolades including Platinum and JUNO awards.

After a stint with Sanctuary Records as their lifestyle marketing coordinator, Carriere finally ventured out on his own. In 2002, Carriere took over the S.C.E.N.E. Music Festival in St. Catharine’s with Steve Stumble. Held annually since 1995, the festival grew from 3 stages and 20 acts to 16 stages, 135 acts and 8000+ fans under Carriere’s tenure as organizer.

Today, Carriere is owner and operator of both Bedlam Music Management and Dine Alone Records. With the success of Alexisonfire, Carriere was encouraged to expand his management roster under the Bedlam Music Management umbrella which currently manages City and Colour, Monster Truck and The Sheepdogs. Bedlam Music Management is also responsible for breaking artists such as Bedouin Soundclash, Arkells, and Attack in Black. Dine Alone Records is frequently lauded as one of Canada’s most important full-service independent records labels, due in a big part to the success of City and Colour. Currently the label boasts a roster that includes such notable artists such as The Lumineers, The Civil Wars, City and Colour, Tokyo Police Club, Fidlar, Kate Nash, Marilyn Manson, and James Vincent McMorrow.
