Karen is head of the global team that oversees sync marketing for Concordā€™s frontline labels; Fantasy, Rounder, Concord Records, Concord Jazz, Loma Vista Recordings, Fearless and Easy Eye Sound. She also handles sync for over 30 catalog labels including Stax, Fania, Vee-Jay, Vanguard, Musart, Savoy, Prestige, Riverside, Specialty and more. Her duties include promoting the artists music to film, television programs, trailers, video games, commercials, soundtracks and new media. She is in charge of both the creative pitching of music and the licensing negotiations and has had success with artists writing original music for film.
Some of the artists Karen works with include Denzel Curry, Robert Glasper, Common, Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, Sampa The Great, Action Bronson, St. Vincent, Sylvan Esso, Valerie June, Soccer Mommy, I Prevail, James Taylor, Manchester Orchestra, HEALTH, Matt Berninger (from the National), Andrew Bird, Ghost, Tears for Fears and Iggy Pop. Concord Is also home to Canadian artists, Allison Russell (3 time Grammy nominated and up for 2 Juno Awards on May 15th, Rachel Bobbitt an Bella White
Before joining Concord, Karen was VP of Sync for music publishing company, Music Sales Corp (n/k/a Wise Music) where she handled both the creative and licensing negotiation for Music Salesā€™ copyrights and master recordings. Some of the artists and composers she worked with include, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, UNKLE, Soulsavers with Dave Gahan, and award wining composers, Dustin Oā€™Halloran, Craig Armstrong, Ludovico Einaudi, JĆ³hann JĆ³hannsson, Haushka, Alberto Iglesius, and Tan Dun
Prior to working in sync promotion, Karen worked for several film production companies with offices located at Warner Bros Studios, Sony Pictures and Paramount Pictures. During this time Karen was responsible for all of the film and television projectā€™s music needs including music supervision, music licensing, creating original songs and hiring the composer. Karen is a graduate of the University of Colorado with a B.S. in International Business. While attending school in Boulder, CO she worked for the local concert promoter. Karen is from Ann Arbor, MI.
