Catharine Saxberg

Catharine Saxberg is responsible for managing SOCAN’s presence and role internationally, and for building even more opportunities for the organization’s members beyond Canada’s borders. She works with SOCAN’s International team to manage relationships with partner performing rights organizations around the world, particularly the larger ones that provide more than 90 percent of SOCAN members’ international royalties.

Prior to joining SOCAN, Catharine Saxberg was Executive Director of the Canadian Music Publishers Association (CMPA) for eight years. Before that she was Executive Director of the Radio Starmaker Fund; Senior Project Director with Balmur Corus Music; and Director of Marketing, Canadian Broadcast Sales. Catharine has also served in a variety of industry leadership roles, including two terms on the Board of Directors of the International Confederation of Music Publishers, two terms as co-chair of ICMP’s pop bureau, co-chair of Canadian Music Week, director with the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame, member of the National Advisory Board of FACTOR and most recently as Chair of CISAC’s Music Repertoire Group.

She is ABD in History from York University, gained an Honors BA in French and History, a Masters in History from the University of Toronto, and has a BAA in Radio and Television Arts from Ryerson Polytechnical Institute. Catherine is also the Co-Founder of the Unison Fund, where she also served as Chair, and as board member for over a decade.
