Gil Moore is a Mississauga based musician who has been active in the Canadian music industry for over 40 years. Gil is a founding member of Triumph, one of Canadaโs most celebrated music groups. Additionally, Gil is the CEO and Founder of Mississaugaโs Metalworks Studios, Metalworks Institute, and Metalworks Production Group. Triumphโs concerts were renowned for their fiery brand of excellent musicianship combined with a larger than life stage spectacle, taking their Canadian brand of rock โn roll to the largest concert stages across North America and beyond. Triumphโs fourteen albums have received 25 Gold and Platinum certifications from Music Canada and RIAA in Canada and the United States respectively. Triumph were inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame (2008), the Q107 Toronto Music Hall of Fame (1997), the Canadian Music & Broadcast Industry Hall of Fame (2007), Mississaugaโs Legends Row (2012), and Canadaโs Walk of Fame (2019). The City of Mississauga named a new street in honor of the band; โTriumph Laneโ was christened by Mayor Hazel McCallion, Councilor Sue McFadden, Police Chief Michael Metcalfe, and the Peel Police Pipes & Drums (2011). Recently Triumph were presented with the 2019 Legends of Live Award at the Canadian Music Week conference. In 2011, Triumphโs music and business archives were donated to the University of Toronto Libraries โ Media Commons where they are available as research resources to U of T students. Gil was honored with the โBusiness and the Arts Awardโ from the Mississauga Board of Trade in recognition of his โOutstanding Contribution to the Arts Community of Mississaugaโ (2002). He was inducted into the Mississauga Music Walk of Fame (2012) for his contributions in music education and community involvement. As Metalworksโ founder Gil received the Ontario Chamber of Commerce โOntario Business Achievement SME Excellence Awardโ (2013), and the โSam McCallion Community Involvement Awardโ (2014). Gil is a recipient of the Mississauga Arts Council โLaurie Pallett Patron of the Arts MARTY Awardโ (2015), the Mississauga Board of Trade โLifetime Achievement Awardโ (2016), Heritage Mississaugaโs โPresidentโs Awardโ (2019), and Music Canadaโs โArtist Advocate Awardโ (2019). Metalworks Studios are Canadaโs most celebrated music studios with nearly 200 gold and platinum Music Canada and RIAA awards. Recently, Metalworks Studios won the Canadian Music Week CMW โRecording Studio of the Yearโ award (2019) for an unprecedented17th time, a record that will likely never be broken. Launched by the studio, Metalworks Institute was a natural extension into education in the arts. The school now has over 250 full time students enrolled. Metalworks Production Group extended the studioโs services into the live event field, setting the stage sound and lighting for concerts and events throughout the province and sponsoring many community events in Mississauga. Gil has served as an Executive Board Member of the Toronto Musicians Association Local 149, as well as Board Member and First Vice President of the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS). Currently, he serves as a board member for the Canadian Association for the Advancement of Music and the Arts (CAAMA).
