WINNERS ANNOUNCED FOR THE 2016 CANADIAN MUSIC AND BROADCAST INDUSTRY AWARDS

Canadian Music Week is pleased to announce the winners of the Canadian Music and Broadcast Industry Awards, which took place tonight in the Grand Ballroom of the Sheraton Centre. The CMBIAs have become CMW’s grandest celebration of Canadian broadcasters and industry standouts.

The awards gala was hosted by CBC and former MTV personality Jessi Cruickshank.

The event saw Toronto’s Massey Hall and Vancouver’s Vogue Theatre take home gold for Performing Arts Centre Over and Under 1500, respectively, while Dine Alone Records was named best Canadian Independent Record Label. Broadcasting veteran Alan Cross was awarded best Music Journalist, while Universal’s Mavis Harris walked away with Best Music Publicist. A full list of nominees and winners can be found below.

Nelly Furtado was awarded the 2016 Allan Slaight Humanitarian Spirit Award in recognition of the singer’s extensive work with Free The Children and the organization’s We Day event. Among this year’s inductees to the Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame were Rob Steele, Andy Kim, Pat Cardinal, Andre Menard and Alain Sumard.
