Who’s Got Tickets? (And How Did They Get Them?): The Industry Answers Back

As the “secondary ticket” industry has evolved, prices have skyrocketed – such that major events can see face-value jump as much as 1000% in resellers’ hands. Some see it as unsolvable. But Live Nation/Ticketmaster turned to technology to look for ways to make ticket-buying fairer. Its Verified Fan program sees fans register their personal information and receive a priority code that supersedes the “bots.” A million users have registered and some shows have consequently seen zero tickets available on StubHub. But what if the resellers push back? What is the legal blowback if actual fans accidentally get flagged as “bots?” And to what extent are artists and management unconcerned, so long as tickets get sold? This panel will look at all angles of putting tickets in fans’ pockets.
