CAAMA, in association with Canadian Music Week, is facilitating access for Canadian artists and labels to the United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Wales) and Ireland.

With a population of 64.1 million, the UK is the third largest in the European Union (behind Germany and France.)  It is the second largest music market in Europe and ranked fourth worldwide with industry revenues of US$1.33 billion (*IFPI RIN 2014) and the largest performance rights market in the world

In May 2016, at Canadian Music Week in Toronto, will be hosting labels, booking agents, festival organizers, promoters, talent buyers and industry specialists from the entertainment sectors open new trade routes for Canadians who are interested in furthering opportunities with these two key European markets as part of a Spotlight on the UK and Focus on Ireland.

CAAMA will provide a market intelligence report and trade support for Canadian artists and music companies to do business.  The report will include an in-depth overview of the territories and we anticipate the report will serve as an invaluable resource in future preparations for the 2016 Spotlight and Focus activities.

    FOCUS ON IRELAND

To complement the 2016 Spotlight on the UK, CAAMA (Canadian Association for the Advancement of Music and the Arts) will present an expansion to the initiative to include a Focus on Ireland at Canadian Music Week 2016 (May 2016 in Toronto).

With a population of 4.8 million, Ireland is the 31st most important music market worldwide, a total trade value of recorded music revenue of $USD 40.9 million.

As part of CMW’s International Buyer’s Program, the 2016 Focus on Ireland will bring key buyers, market experts and industry reps from various sectors together with the Canadian music industry in Toronto during the event’s conference schedule. Delegates from Ireland will participate in export market training sessions and share their expertise and insights while opening new trade routes for business investment and revenue potential for all in attendance.

Now in its 34th year, Canadian Music Week is one of the world’s most important and longest running international music business destinations, as well as one of the biggest new music festivals in Canada showcasing global talent.  Attracting thousands of delegates from more than 30 countries each year, the event serves as a convergence point for international networking, business to business transactions, structured one-on-one meetings, and specialized export programming.
