Nadeem Basaria is Senior Director, Equity and Inclusion (E&I) at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC). In this role, he leads a team of E&I advisors and specialists who work across the company to create long-term, sustainable, systemic change by influencing policy and identifying and dismantling systems that are not inclusive.

Nadeem has over 13 years working in the field of Equity, Diversity & Inclusion. Throughout his career, he has helped to develop and promote CBC’s first national business case for diversity, launched CBC’s groundbreaking diversity content measurement tool, introduced and led the creation of CBC’s ERG program, and has led numerous initiatives and programs to amplify underrepresented voices. He continues to help grow the E&I department and strategy to meet the changing needs of the environment and organization.

Prior to his work in E&I, Nadeem was a researcher and associate producer for 4 years in CBC’s documentary unit. Before joining CBC, he owned his own freelance writing and editing business.

Nadeem has an Honours Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Toronto, is a Canadian Certified Inclusion Professional (CCIP), a Prosci Certified Change Practitioner, holds an Inclusive Leadership Certificate from Anima Leadership, is a graduate of the CBC Developing Emerging Leaders program (2017), and the CBC Leadership Development System (2022).

Nadeem lives in Streetsville – Mississauga, ON with his wife Trish, and two daughters Alyssa and Jasmine.
