Joe Harland is the BBC’s Head Of Visual & Multiplatform Radio, responsible for the team that turn radio into impactful, shareable digital content across the web and TV. In 2003 he launched the Zane Lowe show, winning a hatful of Sony Awards as a result. Transitioning into management he started working in the emerging field of visual radio in 2011, where – along with his multi-skilled team of producers he grew Radio 1 to become the world’s most watched radio station. The Radio 1 YouTube channel receives a million views per day as a result, and due to this the network became the first radio station to have its own channel on the TV iPlayer. He also oversees the visual output across network radio including In Concert for Radio 2, the 6Music Festival and the Asian Network’s increasingly popular comedy strand.
