Jia is a Taiwanese-Canadian indie/alternative artist and singer-songwriter from Burnaby, BC. Her music is a seamless blend of dark western, earthy americana, dream pop and indie rock, inspired by her love for Tarantino films. Her debut EP, “The Melting of the Moon,” was recorded at Monarch Studios with City and Colour’s band, and three-time Juno-nominated producer Olivia Quan, released on June 28th, 2023.
Jia was selected for the On The Haus program, where she was offered a fully serviced studio recording session with Juno-nominated producer Alysha Brilla by Serena Ryder’s record label, ArtHaus. She was also selected to participate in the Women in Music x She is the Music (Alicia Keys’ organization) Songwriting Bootcamp.
Her work has been praised in the press, with Darryl from the Tinnitist writing, “Her masterful marriage of nostalgic styles, sounds, influences and archetypes are seamlessly smeared all together into woozy, seductive tales of obsession, desertion, and heartbreak— while hinting at events and motives that are far more malevolent and mysterious.”
