Seven months after leaving the Los Angeles morning airwaves following anti-Semitic comments he made on his podcast, Nick Cannon will return to morning drive on “Power 106” KPWR Los Angeles Thursday, Feb 25. The return comes as the multi-faceted entertainer has inked a new deal with Skyview Networks, which has syndicated his show since January 2020.

In addition, Cannon and Power 106 owner Meruelo Media have signed a new agreement under which Cannon will create a local version of his network show with his L.A. morning co-hosts.

Power 106 remains the flagship for “Nick Cannon Radio.”

“Los Angeles, I am back and ready to lift you up in the mornings and bring joy at the crack of dawn with original comedy and candid conversation, Cannon said in a news release. “Tough times don’t last, but tough people do – and I am grateful for my supporters, friends and loved ones who have guided me through this journey these past few months. We grow through challenges and lessons together, but emerge better on the other side.”

In addition, Cannon’s new syndicated daily TV show launches in the fall putting Cannon on every Fox TV station, helping drive awareness for the star. Also, Cannon is back in business with ViacomCBS to resume production of his VH1 series “Wild ‘N Out,” which was on a multi-city tour when COVID-19 hit.

“Nick Cannon is the consummate entertainer and more demanding on himself than on anyone else,” said Otto Padron, President & CEO of Meruelo Media. “His newly revamped and creatively turbo-charged local morning show will bring much needed comedic entertainment to LA mornings like only Nick can. Reunited with Teddy, Melissa and DJ Carisma, Nick will deliver a uniquely Los Angeles centric morning show fitting of our iconic Power 106 flagship.”

The nationally syndicated daily “Nick Cannon Radio” show features original comedy, pop culture and conversations Cannon has with performers, many of whom are his friends. On weekends, he hosts “Cannon’s Countdown,” which reflects his top songs from radio and streaming with his insights on the performers.

“Nick Cannon is a unique influencer who has driven radio ratings success through his hard work and complete audience focus,” said Steve Jones, President & COO of Skyview Networks. “Nick is familiar to every 18–49-year-old listener and advertiser in America through his platforms on social media, TV, movies and music.”

Targeting hip-hop/R&B and rhythmic-CHR radio stations, “Nick Cannon Radio” allows programmers to insert their own music within the show with customized content from Cannon. The show is designed to air in morning, midday or afternoon drive.

Cannon took some downtime from “Nick Cannon Radio” following the podcast fallout last July but by September was back behind the mic for the syndicated show. However, Cannon had been absent from the Power 106 airwaves even as “Nick Cannon Radio” remained prominently displayed on the station’s website.
