Melia Hudgin, also known as Princess Melia, stands as a vibrant force within the Indigenous artist and entrepreneurial community, calling Toronto, Canada her creative home. With a diverse skill set spanning singing, songwriting, producing, engineering, fashion styling, grant writing, marketing, and event management, Melia epitomizes versatility in the creative sphere.

She is a member of both Kwanlin Dun First Nation (Whitehorse YT) and Tahltan First Nation (northern BC). Originating from Whitehorse, Yukon, affectionately dubbed “the land of the midnight sun” for its perpetual daylight during summers, Melia’s journey into the arts began at a tender age, weaving melodies as soon as she could speak. Growing up, she seized every stage opportunity in her small hometown, nurturing dreams of a bustling city life dedicated to music. In 2020, those aspirations crystallized as she made the leap to Toronto, enrolling at The Harris Institute to hone her craft.

Graduating with dual honours diplomas in music business and audio engineering from The Harris Institute, Melia further enriched her expertise by earning honours in fashion at Seneca College. Currently pursuing studies in Business-Marketing at Seneca, her commitment to lifelong learning remains unwavering.

Throughout her four-year tenure in Toronto, Melia, alongside her academic pursuits, delved into sonic exploration, refining her signature blend of R&B and deep house, while fearlessly traversing through hip-hop, drum & bass, pop, blues, and rock. Her stage presence has graced numerous venues across Canada, with standout performances including the Adaka Fashion Show and an opening slot for Haviah Mighty at Wonderhorse Festival.

A curator and coordinator at heart, Melia has orchestrated a plethora of shows in both Whitehorse and Toronto, ranging from her own release events to charity showcases and festival performances.

Venturing into entrepreneurship, Melia is on the brink of launching her maiden venture, MLH Marketing & Events. Through this endeavor, she collaborates with corporate entities and artists alike, delivering bespoke marketing and event solutions. Her repertoire encompasses the gamut of marketing campaign curation and execution, artist marketing management, digital marketing services, as well as event curation, management, and promotion.

Driven by a boundless passion for creativity and community, Melia Hudgin, a.k.a. Princess Melia, continues to illuminate the artistic landscape with her multifaceted talents and entrepreneurial spirit.
