Kit Wheeler oversees SOCAN royalty collections for the public performance and reproduction of music in Canada, while managing important relationships with new and existing media and live music partners, as well as general business licensees.
Kit played an important role in the development of SOCAN’s Encore program that saw SOCAN members get paid for their online concerts after live performances were wiped out by the pandemic. The Encore program became the impetus for SOCAN’s online concert distribution rule serving as a permanent solution to the increasing popularity of online concerts and further support for SOCAN’s core goal of getting music creators and publishers paid fairly whenever and wherever their music is publicly played.
