Communications strategy, writing, and editing are my core duties at the Vector Institute, where I translate AI research into easily understandable stories and content for the organization’s channels. Adapting my voice to each project, I craft the narrative direction for speaking notes, memos, reports, blog posts, and thought leadership pieces. I also help coordinate media requests and story pitches, shepherding coverage — both positive and contentious — with publications like The Globe and Mail, The Toronto Star, The New York Times, CBC and 60 Minutes and coach staff and researchers on speaking to reporters. I am currently building a stable of freelancers to help expand the organization’s content creation capabilities and integrating GenAI tools into the communications team’s workflow.

I leaned on a similar set of skills while working in Ontario’s Cabinet Office, where I contributed internal and external communications for both the Premier and the Secretary of the Cabinet, and at the Martin Prosperity Institute (MPI), where I worked with urban theorist Richard Florida and management thought-leader Roger Martin.

I am particularly interested in telling stories with emerging digital platforms that offer new, creative avenues for conveying ideas in a straightforward manner. I wrote, produced, and hosted the Shiftdisturbers podcast for MPI, highlighting the Institute’s research and ideas, and a series for the Institute for Competitiveness and Prosperity on economic clusters. I also produce a personal bi-weekly Substack newsletter and previously managed newsletters for Vector through Mailchimp.

The fast-paced, deadline-driven media industry requires a constant juggling of shifting priorities. Time management and organization are key to balancing my full-time job with my independent, freelance career. I simultaneously work on multiple projects with tight deadlines while ensuring speed and accuracy. Every subject comes with its own set of jargon that needs to be analyzed and decoded for mass consumption, a skill for which my multidisciplinary experience makes me uniquely suited.
