The Producers Sound Off: How Recording Carries On and Even Thrives
11:00 AM - 12:00 PM, Ballroom B
Moderator: Michael Raine
From Zoom to Virtual Reality, the COVID crisis had the collateral effect of putting innovative tech in the driver’s seat. And record producing was already ahead of the game when it came to mixing sounds digitally from around a connected planet. There’s less room to riff, of course. You can’t just call up session musicians on a whim and put them together in a room. This session will examine the impacts of COVID on recording and producing, how much extra planning is needed to mix music from artists who may be a world away from each other, and the extent to which studio professionals have managed to turn crisis into an opportunity.
