Rollout of a Release Plan: New Rules for Getting Heard in 2021
Moderator: Dani Oliva
It’s one of life’s ironies that the Internet – once the industry’s enemy – is now its life-line. Before the pandemic, the industry had already evolved into a streamed, hit-song-driven universe. Now, with concert revenues all but gone from the equation, it’s a make-or-break virtual game for new releases. This panel of pros has stickhandled its way through the release maze and has new rules for launching a song amid millions of competitors. Some of the rules will sound familiar (write short, don’t over-intro, come up with a lead single, a “B-side” and bonus content) and others are of-the-moment (encourage fans to personalize the content on social media, with DIY videos, duets, etc.).
