3:00 PM - 4:00 PM, Ballroom B
Moderator: ShoShona Kish
Traditional Indigenous protocols have existed on the traditional lands of Indigenous people since time immemorial, these protocols recognize and respect the cultural richness and diversity of Indigenous cultures, and expression of art, and identity.
Contemporary protocols also exist and provide guidance and direction on ensuring an ethical approach to working with Indigenous cultural and artistic material. These protocols respect the rights of Indigenous artists to have sovereignty over their cultural identity and expression and story narratives though their art.
In this panel, our panelists discuss different perspectives and best practices in following and respecting traditional and contemporary Indigenous protocols, in all aspects of the music business, including booking, performance, Intellectual property, ownership, agreements, song writing, production, music publishing, recording, and presentation and more.
