(Fireside Chat)

Metric is a critically-acclaimed, rock band from Toronto. Comprised of Emily HainesJames ShawJoshua Winstead and Joules Scott Key. Metric has come to personify the indie-rock pursuit of success, having a storied career in trying to distill the world around us, with its ever changing social and political climates, through the connectivity of their songs. Creating a catalogue full of masterful, lyrical story-telling, synth-heavy, guitar shredding, acutely radio-ready and all around-fan-frenzied stadium anthems that ring on in your ears and hearts, Metric has built a community.

Metric choose to consistently surround themselves with a team who aligns with their grand visions and creative goals and they repeatedly emerge into brave new partnerships and territory. They have now partnered with independent and impressive label services company Thirty Tigers Entertainment, headquartered in Nashville. Their Canadian Music Week chat together will explore the career paths and pitfalls both teams have experienced and look to what’s next.

Metric’s forthcoming new album, their career eighth, Formentera, with its modular synths, muscular guitars, locked in rhythm section and shimmering vocals will be released on July 8, 2022. The Doomscroller Tour begins later this month and extends over five months and many international stages. Metric are four time Juno Award winners (2010: Group, 2010: Alt Album, “Fantasies,” 2013: Alt Album: “Synthetica,” 2013: Producer, James Shaw), and six time Juno Award nominees. They have received multiple Casby nominations and numerous Polaris Music Prize Listings.
