The College of Knowledge: Why Data Is Everything

The music industry has always used data. But in the past we just called it “knowledge” or “insight” – key qualities historically possessed by the industry’s most successful figures. What’s changed is the amount and potential of that knowledge/data in the digital world. From self-releasing artists to A&R and marketing execs, access to data is helping us all make better decisions that that enable us to reach larger audiences. Smart artists crunch numbers to make release and touring plans. Labels use sophisticated audience growth data from multiple platforms as a tool for signing decisions. This session looks at the trends and tools and that are being used by artists, labels and everyone else in the music industry.
