Fireside Chat

Anthem Man: Fireside Chat with Desmond Child

Desmond Child wanted to be a hit-maker for himself, with his band Desmond Child & Rouge. But his knack for writing rock anthems soon overshadowed his performing career. Sought out by the likes of Kiss’s Paul Stanley, Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora, he wrote Kiss’s I Was Made for Lovin’ You and four songs on Bon Jovi’s legendary album Slippery When Wet (including You Give Love A Bad Name and Livin’ On A Prayer). This fireside chat will cover rock history, from a guy who went from cult member to hit-maker and “Industry ‘It’ boy,” out gay at a time when it still carried an outsider stigma, a victim of the new, paltry digital share for songwriters, and, in a tribute to his mother, co-founder of the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame.
