Global Forum: Inclusivity and Accountability - Bringing Measurable Change for the Music Industry

Momentum is building. The music industry, like many others, is actively seeking solutions and taking action to become more reflective of, and accountable to, the wider community. This includes initiatives to improve representation of all gender identities, ethnicities and sexual orientations across the industry, and to ensure all community members have equitable access to performance and career development opportunities, funding programs, awards, and more.

The 2018 Global Forum at Canadian Music Week will bring together artists and advocates working to bring meaningful change for the music industry so it can benefit from a wider spectrum of viewpoints, sounds and skills. Dr. Stacy Smith of the Annenberg Inclusion Initiative, who pioneered the now viral concept of an “inclusion rider,” will present the keynote address, followed by a panel of Canadian and international leaders challenging the status quo.

All participants will then have the opportunity to take part in table discussions during which they will be encouraged to make a pledge detailing a specific way they will work to improve inclusion on behalf of themselves or their organization.
