New York City-based band The Death Set originally hails from The Gold Coast, Australia Sharing a love of punk rock, electronic music and hip hop, they were drawn to each other’s reckless approach to music-making and intense live performance and wrote songs with lifelong hooks and driving melodies. Hell-bent on recording and touring, the band moved to Sydney, then Baltimore, then Philadelphia and finally Brooklyn where they were buoyed by the DIY network in each scene.
The Death Set has released three EP’s (Morphius, Dim Mak) and two LPs on Counter Records, the rock imprint of seminal UK label Ninja Tune. Honing the noise of jury-rigged gear and overblown mics they were awarded “Live Band of the Year” by Baltimore City paper. Boasting an endearing unrefinement, their first album “Worldwide” album won critical praise throughout the world and the band was touted the “#1 Biggest Hope of the Future” by NME. Artrocker called it “Loud, abrasive and sickly fun” and “Black Flag for a new generation.”. BBC called their second album, “Michel Poiccard”, “Full-tilt, power-pop catharsis and ecstatic blaze-of-glory euphoria.”
They have played over 500 shows around the world from massive festivals like Fuji Rock in Japan or Dour in Belgium, to rammed DIY spaces in Parisian and Brooklyn basements.
They have just finished their third album.
