Parvaaz is a contemporary Indian music band whose four members have assimilated several international progressive/psychedelic rock influences but their own expression has a rootedness that makes their sound unique.
The band’s sound has often been described as one that transcends musical genres.
Parvaaz have released an EP, “Behosh” (2012), the critically acclaimed, full length album, “Baran” (2014) and a live concert film, “Transitions” (2016) and are currently preparing for the release of their second LP.
Parvaaz was formed in March of 2010 when Khalid and Kashif childhood friends from Kashmir met again in Bangalore. After some initial lineup changes the band finally settled into the four-piece outfit it is now when Sachin and Fidel joined the band in late 2010. Emerging from vastly different backgrounds they have come together to create such soul-stirring music – a powerful reminder of so much that can still bind us together in these divisive times.
While they write songs in languages that come naturally to them – Urdu/Kashmiri – listeners say they can feel what is being conveyed even though they can’t understand the lyrics – a testament to the honesty and rootedness with which the band create their music.
They have already risen to being named “India’s most exciting band” in 2018 by Rolling Stone magazine.
A feature-length documentary on Parvaaz is in the post-production phase slated to be completed soon.
Parvaaz are: Khalid Ahamed (vocals), Kashif Iqbal (guitars), Sachin Banandur (drums) and Fidel Dsouza (bass).
