Engaged, electrically charged acoustic guitar, teeming with emotive energy rounded by percussion and bass. As Owen Meany’s Batting Stance, each performance is a contract to burst the bubble between audience and performer through relatable, punching songs. Lyrically oriented, using songs to cradle narratives with conventional chords and unconventional structure.

Owen Meany’s Batting Stance (OMBS) has gained a local following by performing extensively throughout Nova Scotia over the past two and a half years. Through developing a reputation for thoughtful, unconventional songwriting coupled with engaging live performances, OMBS has been accepted into an increasing amount of showcase opportunities. In the past two years, OMBS has showcased at Nova Scotia Music Week (2015/2016) In The Dead of Winter (2016 and 2017), and in September performed at Pop Montreal during a 9-date Ontario tour. In April we will embark on a 7-date tour highlighted by a showcase at Canadian Music Week (Music Nova Scotia Tiki Stage), East Coast Music Awards (Breakout Stage), and Flourish Festival. The self-titled debut record was released on September 16th, 2016 and garnered charting success nationally on Earshot! (Debut at #44 Week Sept 23), and regionally (CKDU # 3, CFMH #4) with radio play on CBC, CBC East Coast Music Hour.

Owen Meany’s Batting Stance is the moniker of Daniel Walker, who performs both solo and with a full four piece band. To further the momentum garnered from the domestic release of the record and subsequent Canadian tours, OMBS will focus on expanding and further developing their following in Canada as well as branching into Europe, specifically Germany and the UK.

‘Owen Meany’s Batting Stance’ will be internationally released on August 16th 2017 via DevilDuck Records (GER) with distribution handled by Rough Trade. This release will be supported by a 15 date solo European tour in Germany and UK from September 14th – October 6th.
