Pop punk
Mulligrub is two Cancers and an Aquarius writing upbeat, smart, and melodically driven pop punk to have Way Too Many Feelings to. Lyrically, the band is often likened to a burnt marshmallow: bitter and angry on the outside, with tender, sweet, and messy emotional notes under the surface.
The band released their debut album, Soft Grudge, independently in 2016. The record was subsequently re-released through Houston-based tape label Funeral Sounds to complement two american tours in 2017. Positive media attention was received for the release from Stereogum, The Le Sigh, Bitch Media, Beatroute, The Grey Estates, and the Winnipeg Free Press, among others. In recent years, the band has opened for artists such as Downtown Boys, Dilly Dally, and John K Samson.
They will be coming to CMW shortly after completing a western Canadian and US tour, finishing with a hometown date opening for Weaves.
Mulligrub is a band made up of settlers living in Winnipeg on Treaty 1 territory, on the lands of Anishinaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene peoples, and in the homeland of the M├ętis Nation.
