Soulful Pop
Hailed as an “arresting vocalist” by the former editor of Mix Magazine NYC, Kristen Violet May’s cinematic, sultry yet powerful music will delight fans of artists such as Adele, Lana Del Rey and Amy Winehouse.

She is currently recording her debut 6 song EP with 3x GRAMMY-nominated producer Rob Kleiner (Sia, David Guetta and Cee Lo Green) in Los Angeles and Toronto. The music is a blend of influences: jazz, 60’s soul, modern dream pop, Tarantino films and urban production.
Kristen’s retro but current sound reflects her love of timeless Jazz and soul vocalists, and her vivid lyrics portray stories of being a modern woman experiencing the trials of love in 2018.

Kristen was awarded the $10,000 album grant in 2017 from FACTOR (The Foundation Assisting Canadian Talent On Recordings), beating out thousands of other artists from around the country, and was recently hand-selected to perform the National Anthem at the Queen’s Plate.
Before she was a recording artist, Kristen lived in New York and worked in the legendary Brill Building, where she went from coffee girl intern to singing on songs mixed by super-producer Phil Ramone (Bob Dylan, Aretha Franklin).

Stayed tuned for her upcoming release!
