Montréal based Toronto-born experimental duo Harmony on Mars was born from Max and Jackson White’s love and obsession with Psychedelic Rock, Garage, Blues, Punk & Avant-Garde music. They debuted at The Horseshoe Tavern in July 2018 and have since gone onto share the stage with Brooklyn’s Post-Wave band Future Punx, also headlining two more Local Nights at the Horseshoe Tavern including Dave Bookman’s famous Indie88 Nu Music Night. In addition, they have shared the stage with DJ Jonathan Toubin’s New York Night Train and Bloodshot Bill as members of one of their other projects, Montréal’s Light Bulb Alley. The White Brothers arrived at this point from two different paths. Max composing and performing avant-garde art music and scoring his friends psychological horror films at Queen’s University, as an outlet to his undergrad commerce degree. Jackson played bass with bands formed in high school with friends who often opened the NXNE Festival’s Main Stage at Yonge and Dundas. The most notable of these gigs was Iggy and the Stooges’ last NXNE appearance in Toronto. Jackson has since gone on to study electroacoustic music at Concordia University in Montreal. Harmony on Mars (HOM) are currently working on their debut release for some time in 2019 playing shows in Toronto, Kingston, and Montréal before heading to Yellowknife in July for the Folk on the Rocks Festival. In addition to HOM, Max and Jackson are working on new albums for their other bands Light Bulb Alley and The Count Ferrara, taking on mixing/production duties.
