Ontario-bred singer-songwriter, Michelle Owen, has been deeply immersed in the music industry for the better part of a decade. Not only has she honed her craft playing with bands and cover bands, but she’s also experimented with past solo-projects in search of her sound — though it’s her current project, Charlie Mauve, that’s allowed her to find it and truly come into her own, radiating a contagious sense of empowerment and total confidence.
Drawing inspiration from classic female icons such as Joan Jett, Janis Joplin, and Alanis Morissette, she’s taken these influences and forged her own distinctive identity pieced together with powerhouse vocals that scream 90’s grunge with a modern voice, combined cleverly with instrumentals that derive from modern pop and rock.
To see her perform is an experience in and of itself. Her bold and captivating stage presence pushes boundaries and is what makes it undeniably clear that this is what she was born to do, with one fan describing her as a “fireball on stage” and adding that “her live show is the best part of everything she does.” Her 2019 touring schedule consists of festivals and more on the horizon.
Michelle remains hands-on with every aspect of this project, co-producing and writing her anticipated EP (currently slated for release in Fall 2019). The first single, “Skin Hungry,” is now available on digital platforms. This serves as the perfect hors d’oeuvres for what’s to come.
