Cecile Monique is an independent Gothic Rock/Symphonic Metal artist from Ontario, Canada. A classically-trained vocalist/composer/arranger, Cecile Monique’s larger-than-life operatic vocals and darkly opulent sound provide an excellent representation of the new generation of the Gothic Rock/Symphonic metal genre in Canada.

In 2016, Cecile Monique made international news when she was chosen as one of five worldwide finalists (and the only North American and Canadian finalist) in the M’era Luna Festival Newcomer Competition to play the main stage at the largest Gothic music festival in the world. Cecile Monique has also been chosen as a qualifier in both the 2013 and 2019 Wacken Metal Battle Canada competitions.

Cecile Monique has received press coverage from media outlets such as CTV, CBC, Rogers TV, BraveWords, PureGrainAudio, Finland’s Metalliuola and Alan Cross’ “Journal of Musical Things.” Her music videos have been broadcast in Latin America on the Telehit network and her Gothic cover of Rammstein’s “Reise Reise” achieved viral popularity on YouTube and was broadcast on Germany’s DW network.

In 2018, Cecile Monique released her debut full-length album “Genesis.” The album, which features twelve original compositions, showcases a contemporary take on symphonic metal music and has received critical acclaim in North America and Europe, being touted as “one of the most positive surprises for the rest of the year” by Finland’s Metalliluola.

Cecile Monique’s powerful distinctive musical style and charismatic stage presence firmly cement her in the international ‘watch list’ for the new generation of Gothic Rock/Symphonic Metal
