Is ‘Rock’ music dead? Maybe. Everything’s dead these days: punk, authenticity, the functioning of our socioeconomic system. BLANKS doesn’t pay much attention. They’re too busy crafting grab-you-by-the-scruff songs featuring explosive choruses, melodic bass grooves, blistering drums, and throbbing keyboards to care. Drawing influence from post-punk, new wave, and Britpop, and combining the sounds of Blur, The Stranglers, and Parquet Courts, BLANKS is out to make music to dance to at the end of the world.
Founded in Toronto in 2017 by three guys jamming in a basement, BLANKS has morphed into a four-piece composed mostly of seasoned underground musicians with years of experience in songwriting and performance. They released a demo and an EP last year, and are set to release their first single, “If You Fall,” on 10 May 2019.
BLANKS—you don’t know us yet, but we know you.
