Alejandra Estepa artistic name: Anamolí was born in the geographic heart of Argentina in South America and her deep connection to place and the cycles of nature are evident in her music. At any early age she moved frequently between Andes and Ocean being raised in various provinces around the country. This endless nomadic trip is directly reflected in her music which combines Pachamama spirit contrasted with third-world urban landscapes filtered through the intimacy of a lazy afternoon in the countryside. Claiming all of Argentina as her central home Anamolí began singing at the tender age of 10 in local choirs. By the time she moved to the capital of Buenos Aires at 17 she was using her contemporary-mainstream 90’s female influences like Fiona Apple Sheryl Crow and Jewel mixed with her ancestral folkloric chamamé singers to the classic Teresa Parodi and Mercedes Sosa beginning to compose on guitar. She aims to explore the human condition through the nuances of acoustic-pop and folk which derives in catchy melodies transporting you to a more private and introspective place. This is fluently interpreted on her original albums: “Tiempo de Otras Cosas” (2014) and “La Medida del Pez” (2016). Since 2010 Anamolí has been playing prolifically solo and uniting other Argentinean-based composers and singer-songwriters far and wide.
