Pop/Singer-Songwriter
Alex Whorms is a pianist, singer and songwriter from Toronto. Frequently compared to Sara Bareilles and Carole King, she writes upbeat, catchy pop songs inspired by her life experiences as a young Canadian artist. She performs as a soloist and also fronts her own band.

Whorms’ latest single, “Sunset”, debuted on CBC Radio One’s “In The Key of C” radio show and was praised for “real honest purity” in the CBC article “3 new Ontario songs you need to hear this week” (March 2, 2019). This follows the success of her 2017 “Our Lives” EP which charted on North American community radio shows including 93.3 FM CFMU Top 20 [“Jones” “People In Love” “Naturally”] I Heart Hamilton Top 5 [“Jones”] and 93.1 FM WRUW (Cleveland) [“Jones”].

Whorms has performed over 100 concerts since 2017 including two tour stops in New York City and a career highlight as an opening act for Tom Cochrane at Hamilton’s 2018 Festival of Friends.

Her upcoming second EP will be released in Fall 2019.

Many of Whorms’ songs show off her background in classical and jazz music with soaring string arrangements and complex piano parts; others like her most-streamed single “Jones” show a distinct indie rock influence. However Whorms remarks, “My introspective approach to storytelling is consistent across my body of work. And the subjects I write about – things like love, society, and the media – are resonant and relatable to many listeners.”

“Alex’s organic approach to music…is hugely refreshing” – Amy King, Producer
