Hypnotic in sound and stereo, Sam Louis is digital adrenaline. Hanging in the balance of Alt Pop and R&B, Louis curates feelings of loss and regret while still inducing euphoria. Based out of Toronto, Sam aims to provide more than just a stream or casual listening experience, but medicine for those who need it. He has studied with international musicians such as Greg Wells (Adele), Rik Emmett (Triumph), Ian Terry (Celine Dion) and Denzel Sinclaire (Diana Krall). Sam has also had the opportunity to work and song write with London based producer/songwriter/programmer James Sanger (Madonna, U2, Phil Collins) and has rehearsed and worked with Toronto based Musician/Producer/Songwriter Alan Shiner (Pizza Pizza, Coca Cola, Mariah Carey and Drake). In 2017 Louis was recognized by the Toronto Independent Music Awards being nominated in the BEST POP ARTIST category. He has also won an Indigenous Music Award for Best Pop Album through three collaborations with his friend Joshua De Perry (Classic Roots). In 2018 Sam recorded and released the 7 song EP “Hallelujah Nights” under engineer Kevin O’Leary (Tragically Hip Shawn Mendes, Billy Talent, The Glorious Sons, Walk Off The Earth). Last year Louis’ latest single This Love produced by LA’s Shayan Amiri (A-Major, Andy Boy) has been streamed over 170k times and the acoustic version has garnered over 65k views on Youtube. The record was also selected as a top 100 semi-finalist in the INTERNATIONAL SONGWRITING COMPETITION, where there was more than 20k applicants worldwide. Sam’s last single Shiny was a collaboration with New York engineer Mike Tucci (Chris Brown, Young Thug), released back in August, Shiny quickly accumulated over 65k streams on Spotify. His latest single entitled Driftin’ was released on April 2nd and continues to mystify listeners. Working again with producer Shayan Amiri (Brian Justin Crum), UK mixer Jerome Renard (The Voice, Universal Music and Sony) and Los Angeles engineer Nicolas De Porcel AKA Million Dollar Snare (Roddy Ricch, DaBaby and Sza), Driftin’ is a chilling transmission that has been dubbed by Mobangeles as a “modern-day “Rocket Man” that burns just as bright.” The new single has been featured in multiple Spotify editorial playlists such as New Music Friday and It’s a Bop, surpassing 10k streams in its first week. The music video for Driftin’ premiered on Youtube’s Bangers Only (1.9 million subscribers) on April 7th, gathering more than 20K views in its first 4 days. Sam Louis is no stranger to the CMW stage, he’s packed multiple venues each showcase and hopes to virtually do the same this year. This new single and sound symbolizes and new era for Louis’ musicianship and artistry, proving he’s gaining speed and ready for the next heat.
