Embodying the energy and ferocity of their animal namesake, Hyaenas is an Indie Rock/Synth Pop band that burst into the scene with a sold out debut show opening for Vancouver’s iconic Garage Rock duo The Pack AD in December 2021.
With fun, catchy hooks, their songs are written through a queer feminist lens that explore meaningful themes from acceptance to vigilance, a love of nature, self worth, and social justice while drawing inspiration from 80’s icons The Go-Go’s to modern day Indie darlings The Beaches, and synth-pop power
quartet Metric.
Hyaenas has been making waves across Canada with performances at Folk on the Rocks, NXNE, Squamish Constellation Festival, Coldsnap Festival, Sunshine Music Festival, Western Canadian Pride Festivals and Khatsahlano Street Party, and has shared the stage with Lauren Ruth Ward, The Pack AD, Kimmortal, Fake Shark, and
Miesha & the Spanks.
The palpable chemistry between Sophie Heppell (guitar, vocals), Jessie Robertson (bass), Jen Foster (drums) and Luvia Petersen (synth) can be felt on and off the stage.
Their debut EP “Little Trophy”, produced by coveted Vancouver producers Elisa Pangsaeng (Said The Whale, Yukon Blonde) and Jesse Gander (The Pack AD, White Lung), debuted at #11 on the National Earshot Radio Charts!
