During the humid summer nights of 2020, Brendan Scott Friel was using the forced isolation to meticulously sculpt his latest album, Summer Moons.
With the original schedule and release plan thrown out the window, Friel – a singer songwriter from Windsor, Ontario Canada – along with Juno award winning producer James Bunton (Donovan Woods, David Myles) used the added time to intensify their efforts from their home studios.
“I was very disheartened at first,” says Friel “but I wrote so many of my favourite songs on the album during that forced down time.”
Brendan’s signature intricate, yet subtle acoustic guitar work is combined with lush sonic landscapes creating an album that “effortlessly pulls you in with a grounding sense of comfort and vulnerability – finding a perfect balance between the authenticity of folk music and a refreshing sense of sonic exploration” (The Permanent Rain Press). Since its release in April 2021, Summer Moons has been featured in countless playlists and blogs such as Exclaim!, Mahogany, Alex Rainbird Music, and Canadian Beats.
With an ever growing fan base and a captivating live show, perfected through tours across Canada and busking across Europe, Brendan Scott Friel is an artist to watch.
