Shaun Bowring

The Garrison
Toronto, ON, Canada
Shaun Bowring started his career in music as frontman of successful Toronto indie band Teknicolor Raincoats. From 1987-1994 Teknicolor Raincoats released music and toured internationally with the likes of Blur, EMF and Charlatans UK. Bowring owned and operated digital recording studio Audio File Productions from 1995-2001, that focused audio integration into multimedia formats.

Bowring returned to live music as a booker / promoter during the early days of the Indie Rock resurgence of the 2000’s, programming famed Sneaky Dee’s from 2002-2009. Booking new acts such as Arcade Fire, Lullabye Arkestra, Of Montreal, Feist, Hidden Cameras, METZ, Wintersleep etc., as well housing influential Blocks Recording Club and Wavelength music series.

In 2009 Shaun opened 300 capacity music venue The Garrison that quickly established itself as the Toronto mainstay for local and touring bands. The addition of promotion company Transmit Presents and 150 cap satellite venue The Baby G in September of 2016 further Bowring’s commitment to developing local and international acts alike.

Shaun has been an ongoing advocate for live music venues in Toronto working with city planning departments to help shape the future Toronto’s Music City initiative and live music scene.
