Steve Bootland

International Artist Development / Consultancy/Mgr,
Setubal, Portugal
Steve started in the Music business on "the road" where he spent the good part of over 15 years. Beginning as a backline technician Steve worked with many acts from Punk bands like Peter & the Test Tube Babies, The Lurkers to Elkie Brooks, Joe Strummer and Gail Ann Dorsey. Steve went on to Production Managing and then Tour Managing Acts like The Catherine Wheel, The Almighty, The Crash Test Dummies and many more.

It was Steve´s early fascination in the relationships formed between Artists, Management, Labels and particularly Fans that would eventually shape a career in years to come. The desire to learn more in the business off the road led to the formation of a small label with Sony distribution as well as Managing smaller acts.

In 2006, Canadian born, Steve and family decided to emigrate from London England where he had lived for 23 years. Portugal was the destination and it wasn´t long until the Musical treasures of the Country opened up a new greater passion. After much research of the International Market from every angle it was clear many Countries shared the same opinion. Portugal had a wealth of great talent and it was clear the bands in Portugal wanted to be heard while the International Sector was actually quite happy to listen. What was missing was a launch pad for bands of all sizes. The Portugal Music scene was created to actively seek out great talent; to work closely with artists in every aspect including their current Social Networking, assistance in biog translation to release planning, profile improvements and increasing an International fan base.

In 2009 Steve was asked to represent digital distribution Company, AWAL UK (Artists Without A Label) in Portugal. Currently the Roster includes Golden Globe 2011 winners "Expensive Soul"; MySpace Portugal Best Band 2012 winners "Linda Martini"; Best Pop Act, Best New Artist, Adidas Trends Award, Ones to Watch 2012 and a host of many other awards and nominations.

Steve also manages "October Flight" from the Azores and together with Nuno Saraiva from Fabulous Generation and Luis Tomas from Lisboagencia they have formed Mission:Canada, aiming at assisting Portuguese artists showcasing at Slacker CMW 2012.
