Jennifer Beavis is a geek, always wanting a career in copyright and music publishing. Fast-forward 25 years and has done so in a successful music publishing career. She graduated from Fanshawe College, Music Industry Arts in 1993 and with a BA from Carleton University in 1988. Her positions in music publishing over the years included working with the multi-national publishers BMG, EMI and independent label, management and publisher, Nettwerk.

She was the Director of Copyright for the Canadian Musical Reproduction Rights Agency (CMRRA) for four and a half years, Director of Publishing and Licensing Administration for Nettwerk and held the position of Executive Director of the Songwriters Association of Canada. In 2005 she was hand-picked to set up the administration department of the newly formed ole Media Management LP (ole) as Senior Director of Administration where she directed the day-to-day business affairs of catalogue acquisitions and publishing administration. Currently, she runs her own lucrative publishing administration business, Librascor Copyright Consulting where for the past five years has represented BMG Rights Management (Canada) Inc., the Canadian affiliate of BMG US, responsible for administering copyright, managing and monitoring and quoting on the synchronization activity and using her extensive knowledge of the issues facing the for all her clients. She also works as a music rights clearance professional for Zoomer TV, Entertainment Tonight, Corkscrew Media and Entertainment One (eOne). Jennifer has served on the Boards of the Canadian Music Publishers Association; was a founding board member of The Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame, served on the CCMA Board and Durham College Music Business Management Steering Committee. For four years she has taught Music Publishing at Durham College’s Music Business Management Program and has lectured extensively on copyright and publishing. Currently, she is a judge on season 7 of The Shot filmed in Toronto this summer.
