Ruth-Ann Shallow, is a multi-faceted entrepreneur who balances various roles and has a wide-range of experience in different areas of the music business. She is the founder and CEO of a Toronto based music production, artist management and event promotions company, called Black Pearl Entertainment (BPE Music Group). She is the Director of Artist Relations, and the Chair of Reggae, for the Urban Music Association of Canada. She has worked at industry giant, Universal Music Canada, for over 11 years as a Copyright and Royalty Analyst and was also a part of the Universal Urban / National Marketing & Promotions Team for over 3 years. Prior to then, Ruth-Ann worked at SOCAN for 7 years in various roles from membership to licensing. She has also worked with the Caribbean Cultural Committee, who founded the annual Caribana parade, and has been involved with the Toronto Black Film Festival and FACTOR. She has hosted and promoted various events, from the “Get In The Game” music conference series, to Hip-hop music showcases, and Reggae/Dancehall concerts with international performers.
