Westwood One
New York, NY, USA
As the Chief Operations Officer, Charles Steinhauer has full oversight of all of WestwoodOne’s business. He is responsible for supervising the management of the company's day to day operations--including programming, technology, distribution, sports, marketing, affiliate services, research, compliance, and strategy. Steinhauer has been instrumental in guiding the company as it incorporated the former Cumulus Media Network into the WestwoodOne portfolio. He has overseen the seamless merging of operations, processes, and development of the combined companies.
Prior to moving up to COO, Steinhauer was most recently WestwoodOne’s President of Operations, where he managed all sales support divisions for the company. In 2007 he was promoted to Executive Vice President and also elected to Chair of the Network Radio Research Council (NRRC). He is a Board Member of the Media Ratings Council.
In 2005, while working as the company’s Senior Vice President of Operations, Steinhauer was instrumental in launching Dial Global’s (now WestwoodOne) first RADAR rated network, the first by an independent network firm.
Steinhauer began his career as an Account Executive with Venture Direct Worldwide, a business-to- business direct marketing firm. In 1997, he took a position as research analyst at Winstar Global Media, which eventually merged with Dial Communications to form Dial Global.
In addition to his role at WestwoodOne, he is one of the leads on an industry wide research initiative working to improve how radio is incorporated into Marketing Mix Models, which are widely used by advertisers to evaluate how product sales are influenced by advertising.
