Sherri Haigh

Sherri has more than 25 years of experience in communications and media. The College of Trades is a new regulatory body that oversees more than 200,000 skilled trades professionals in Ontario. Part of Sherri’s responsibility includes promoting careers in the skilled trades as well as educating the public and businesses about the importance of checking the certification before hiring someone in a compulsory trade. She was the lead in creating the successful Tune in Trade Up campaign which highlighted the important partnership between skilled trades and the music industry and encouraged youth to consider the many careers in the trades that involve the music industry.

She was the Manager of Communications for the LCBO, Director of Communications for the Wine Council of Ontario and also managed communications at two regulatory bodies. She also held senior positions working for both federal and provincial cabinet ministers. She has won seven communications awards including two international awards. Sherri was also a journalist for more than 12 years and for part of that time was an entertainment writer and interviewed everyone from Roy Orbison to Johnny Cash. She won a national newspaper award early in her career.
